Zusammenfassung:	RECORDING SYSTEM \A METHOD The invention pertains to a recording system and method for recording dictation on a recording medium including a recording device, wherein controlled motion of the medium is provided in either a forward or a reverse direction relative to the recording device. Voice-generated dictation signals can be transmitted to the recording device for recording on the medium while the medium is moving in the forward direction, and voice-generated instruction signals may be selectively transmitted to the recording device for recording on the medium while the medium is moving in the forward direction. The termination of operation of the instruction signal transmission initiates a return by moving the medium in the forward direction until the farthest point along the medium at which dictation signals have previously been recorded is reached at the recording device. The dictation signal transmission is rendered inoperative during operation of the instruction signal transmission and during the return operation.
