PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS WITH PROLONGED EFFECTS

The invention relates to a process for the preparation of novel pharmaceutical compositions with prolonged effects comprising an active agent which contains a basic nitrogen atom, using a copolymer containing methacrylic acid optionally in the presence of an inert, water-in-soluble pharmaceutical additive, preferably starch or cellulose. The process of the invention is characterized in that the active agent containing a basic nitrogen atom is reacted with a mineral or organic acid, the resulting salt is reacted with a water-soluble salt, preferably with the sodium or potassium salt, of the methacrylic acid - methacrylate and/or acrylate copolymer, and the resulting product is converted into a pharmaceutical composition. The invention also relates to the pharmacon - copolymer salts and pharmaceutical compositions prepared by the above process. The novel pharmaceutical compositions according to the invention are tasteless and exert prolonged effects, thus they can be applied to great advantage in the therapy.
