Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an improved poliovirus vaccine exhibiting enhanced viability and stability during storage at room temperature; the vaccine being suspension in an aqueous solution of tris and L-cystine. The addition of acid hydrolyzed gelatin thereto will enhance the viability and stability during storage at temperatures of from -70.degree.C to 4.degree.C. The invention also concerns a composition made up of tris and L-cystine which can preserve specimen while awaiting analysis for the presence or absence of poliovirus.
