Novel 1-lower alkyl-1,4-benzodiazepines bearing in the 2-position a cyano, carboxamido, or lower alkoxy-imino group are disclosed. These novel benzodiazepine derivatives are useful as muscle relaxant, anti-convulsant and sedative agents.
