PROCESSO PARA PURIFICACAO DE 1,1,1-TRIS(4'-HIDRONIFENIL)ETANO

A process for the purification of 1,1,1-tris(4 min -hydroxyphenyl)ethane by washing a crude admixture containing both it and impurities with a saturated solution of 1,1,1-tris(4 min -hydroxyphenyl)ethane in water and methanol; and isolating the washed crude admixture from the effluent and dissolving the washed crude admixture in methanol, and adding water and sodium borohydride to the dissolved, washed crude admixture to form a precipitate of 1,1,1-tris(4 min -hydroxyphenyl)ethane, and filtering the precipitate to form a resultant purified 1,1,1-tris(4 min -hydroxyphenyl)ethane and a filtrate. Another embodiment of the invention provides iteratively repeating the process by washing an additional crude admixture batch with the filtrate from a prior purification.
