Sweet-packaging apparatus having means for detecting and interrupting the supply of packaging medium in the absence of a sweet comprises a wheel having intergeared sweet-gripping jaws 2 and 3 which are mounted on respective shafts 5 and 4 and which, in the absence of a sweet, pivot closer together under the bias of a spring 19, the resultant anti-clockwise rotation of shaft 4 releasing a latching panel 7 from an arm 16 fixed on element 13 which then pivots under bias of spring 18 to swing a cam roller 14 outwardly and a cam roller 15 into engagement with a cam track 17. The roller 14 co-acts with means not shown to interrupt the packaging medium supply destined for the missing sweet. On approach of the jaws to a position of sweet withdrawal at a singling tray, the cam track 17 raises arm 16 and cam tracks 9 ensures resetting of the jaws and latching pawl 16.
