Zusammenfassung:	A filter making apparatus includes a positioning device 120 having a passageway therethrough, with the passageway guiding a continuous flavor element 70 such as a continuous strand of textile material from an inlet 120a of the passageway to an outlet 120b of the passageway. A first portion 120d of the positioning device forms a curved portion adapted to guide a flavor element passing through the positioning device to a position along the bottom of the positioning device downstream of the curved portion. A liquid flavorant can be introduced into the passageway through a second, downstream, inlet 120c at a desired flow rate and the strand of material carries the supplied liquid flavorant out of the positioning device at a rate substantially equal to the desired flow rate. A portion of the positioning device guides the continuous strand of material along the bottom of the passageway and the saturated or partially saturated strand of material then exits from the outlet of the passageway to a point in the path of filter tow material that is being converged to form a filter rod.
