Zusammenfassung:Magnesium hydroxide obtained by this method has low boron contents and finds application as a base material in the manufacture of magnesium-laden refractories. The method avoids pre-acidifying the raw seawater by an alternative treatment with 170-255 mg/l of calcium hydroxide and 150-510 mg/l of sodium carbonate. The purified water is then treated with a stoichiometric amount of calcium hydroxide, followed by filtration.
