Zusammenfassung:	This method may be applied in clinical practice during surgical accessibility. It is simplified and is used for providing long-term pain relief without intrapleural application of a local anaesthetic. According to the method, during surgery and after the pleural cavity has been closed, a catheter for intravenous infusions is fixed to the radix of the intercostal nerve corresponding to the thoracotomy access site, along the surgical wound and within the extrapleural intercostal region. Through this catheter, a local anaesthetic solution is administered during the post-operative period.
