Zusammenfassung:N-Isopropylaniline, which is of use as an intermediate (esp. for plant-protection agents) and as a solvent, is prepd. by alkylating aniline with acetone in H2 atmos. over a Pt catalyst and in the presence of 0.01-10 (pref. 0.02-5) wt.% (based on the reaction mixture) of an additive consisting of one or more alcohols and/or ethers. The additive limits undersired hydrogenation of the acetone to isopropanol.
