Zusammenfassung: | 1478510 Diamond compacts INST FIZIKI VYSOKIKH DAVLENY AKAD NAUK SSSR 30 Dec 1974 [29 Dec 1973] 56066/74 Heading C4V A compact diamond material comprises powdered diamond particles having a coating of titanium carbide or zirconium carbide which is continuous throughout the material, the particles being bound by a copper-titanium or copper-zirconium intermetallide binder in the inter-particle spaces. The cubic content of diamond particles may be equal to or greater than 65% by volume and the diamond particles may have a size between 1 and 400 microns. The compacts may be prepared by heating together a mixture of powdered diamond particles and copper-titanium or copper-zirconium intermetallide binder under a pressure of more than one kilobar to melt the binder and gradually cooling the mixture to form a solid coating on the particles and the intermetallide binder in the spaces therebetween. The mixture may be heated to between 1000 and 1200 C. and the pressure may be between 10 and 30 kilobars. |
