Zusammenfassung:1355459 Cooling particles in fluidized beds; cooling ore WENDELL E DUNN Inc 18 April 1972 [29 April 1971] 17867/72 Headings F4U and F4B A process for fluidizing and cooling a mass of finely divided particles 7, e.g. partially beneficiated ilmenite at temperatures above 350‹ C. in a vessel 1 comprises continuously feeding the particles through an inlet pipe 2 and the fluidization and cooling is effected by injecting directly thereinto a stream of liquid having a boiling point below the temperature of the particles through an inlet pipe 3. As a result vaporization of the liquid occurs not at the surface of the particles but through a blanketing film of the vaporized liquid and the volatilized liquid, e.g. water is the sole means of maintaining fluidization of the bed.
