1323591 Benzodiazepines F HOFFMANNLA ROCHE & CO AG 22 June 1970 [23 June 1969] 30120/70 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (Y = C 2-10 alkylene or alkenylene; R1 = H, halogen, CF 3 , NO 2 , C 1-7 alkyl, NH 2 ; R2 = H, C 1-7 alkyl, OH, C 2-7 alkanoyloxy; R3 = Ph optionally substituted by halogen, CF 3 , NO 2 , C 1-7 alkyl or NH 2 , or Py), their 4,5-dihydro and 4,5-dihydro-4-(C 1-7 alkyl) derivates and salts thereof are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula or 4,5-dihydro or 4,5-dihydro-4-alkyl derivative thereof with X-Y-Z (X = Cl, Br, I; Z = COOH or group convertible thereto), followed by conversion of Z to COOH if necessary and (optionally) salt formation. These compounds are anticonvulsants, sedatives and muscle relaxants, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
