[Also in Division C1] Apparatus for dispensing a chamical into a fluid comprises a container 20 through which the fluid is made to flow, at least one holder 24 arranged to dispense a chemical held therein into the fluid flowing thereby, the holder(s) being adjustably disposed and rechargeable from outside the container, and a baffle 31 having at least one weir opening for controlling the flow of fluid from the container. The chemical may be in the form of tablets 25 and may be dispensed through openings in portion 28 of the holder(s). A further baffle may be disposed within the container upstream of the holder(s) to reduce the velocity of the fluid entering the container, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). The apparatus may be used inter alia for dispensing disinfectants into sewage, or fertilizers or biocides into irrigation waters or aqueous soils.
