Method of selecting a server object to service a client object request within a network environment

Service requests (30) from client objects (12) in a computer network (62) are processed in accordance with the desirability of use of the transport network (62) available for communication with the server objects (16) so that local platform servers (66) are used whenever possible to avoid data marshalling and unmarshalling. A local memory queue (24) is used to hold the service request (30) for interrogation by the local server (66, 128). Local memory storage (125) may be used to hold data or other portions of the service request (30) so that only minimal data need be processed by the memory queue (24).
