System providing enhanced digital subscriber line service

An enhanced DSL service is provided via CPE (10) and DSLAM (12) equipment which are adapted to provide additional telephony services. The additional services include multiplexing multiple digital voice lines (POTS lines 18) with the broadband data link (ethernet link 16) in a single G.lite connection (SAR 14), recovering AIN services (36 and 38) such as caller ID and call waiting, providing a connection (ethernet 16) to the customer's LAN and providing a firewall between the LAN and the internet (IP address 44), providing multiple LAN protocols, providing a secure web server (42) at the CPE (10), linking the web server (42) to a local database (40), voicemail system (46), and call forwarding logic (50). The invention enables instantaneous deployment of multiple phone lines, broadband access to the internet, a web presence with a firewall, advanced telephony features of voice mail, call accounting, call redirection, fax redirection, and access to all of the telephony features via the customer's LAN or the worldwide web.
