1428327 Bicycle-supporting pedal attachments E E FOSTER 15 Feb 1974 [26 Feb 1973 3 Oct 1973] 6942/74 Heading B7J A support attachment for a pedal bicycle comprises a rigid stand-forming member 13 secured to a pedal 7 and rotatable therewith to the bicycle supporting position shown, the centre of gravity of the combined pedal and attachment being offset from the rotational axis of the pedal axle 6 so that member 13 is biased towards the bicycle supporting position. When the bicycle is in use, the rider's foot engages surface t of the pedal 7 to rotate the pedal out of the supporting position against the bias which is enhanced by a counterweight 30. The member 13 shown is formed from sheet stock bent to provide a side plate 15 diverging to a base edge 21 and a front plate 14 which is secured to the pedal axle 6 by a U-shaped bracket 31. Alternatively, the stand-forming member may be formed from a single continuous length of rod stock bent to an appropriate configuration and secured, for example, to a racing cycle pedal.
