Individual equipment for protection against NBC threats

The outfit's face mask, equipped with a respirator tube and eye-pieces, has a fastener with a projecting tongue which fits into a socket (36) hinged to the head cover surround (18). The tongue and socket contain electrical connections to link the helmet's audio circuit to a microphone inside the mask when the mask is fitted in place. The socket is pivoted to a U-shaped support fixed to the head cover surround and is spring-loaded so that it is automatically pulled into the rear position against the surround. Additional fastenings at the top of the mask are in the form of projecting tongues which engage with catches (2) at the sides of the head cover.
