SUSPENSION PACKAGE

A suspension package (10) of the type having a frame (14) and a hammock (22) tensioned across the frame (14) to enfold and support a product (P) is provided with a brace (30) to prevent the ends (18) of the frame (14) from moving inwardly. This brace (30) simultaneously provides a safety net to protect the product (P) being loaded into the hammock (22). The hammock (22) is secured to tensor flaps (16) on the frame (14), and these flaps (16) are provided with tabs (80) which prevent the flaps (16) from rotating inwardly past the plane of the end panels (18). The hammock (22) is folded in a double fan fold at its ends to facilitate top loading and to accommodate the widest range of product sizes and shapes. Each of the tensor flaps (16) has an inner part (70) and an outer part (72), and the hammock end is sandwiched between the inner and outer parts (70, 72) and held in place by a double ended rivet (100) which simultaneously operates to secure the tensor flaps (16) in the hammock tensioning position. Cinching devices (50) are used around the hammock (22) to center the product (P) within the frame (14). Lifting slots (116) and handles are disclosed for facilitating removal of the frame (14) from a container (12).
