Zusammenfassung:An emulsion comprises a dicarboxylic acid of formula (I) wherein R1 and R3 are each C6 to C10 alkyl and R2 to R4 are each C6 to C10 alkylene (or a cosmetically acceptable salt thereof) and an effective amount of an emulsifying agent chosen such that the emulsion may be shear-thickened in use. The compound of formula (I) is also useful in sunscreens as an anti-free-radical agent.
