Zusammenfassung: | An improved method is disclosed for effecting environmental control in the production of a binder-coated fiber and fiber products. Heat-softened material is attenuated into fibers, cooled to a maximum temperature of about 350 DEG F., coated with a binding agent, collected on a suitable conveyor, and heated in an oven to cure the binder. The binding agent is a phenol-aldehyde type resin which has been condensed to an advanced stage such that the condensate is water-insoluble at a pH of 7.5. The condensate is solubilized by adding a small amount of a non-ionic or anionic agent. |
