Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a fork lift truck (10) having forks (50). A fork level sensor (110) is mounted in one of the forks, away from the vertical mast (40) of the truck, to detect the true level of the forks with respect to the horizontal plane. A fork level indicator, such as a display terminal including a screen, is mounted for viewing by a truck operator. The fork level indicator is responsive to the level sensor for displaying an indication comprising an index (155) including a representation of the horizontal plane, and an output comprising a bar (150) positioned relative to the index to the show the level position of the forks with respect to the horizontal plane, thereby to assist the operator in adjusting the level of the forks, prior to loading, moving or unloading a load from the forks.
