Zusammenfassung:New antigen, for the detection of cutaneous hypersensitivity to brucellosis (esp. in humans) comprises the phenol-soluble fraction of delipidated Brucella abortus bacteria, esp. strain B19. Pref. the antigen is used at concentrations of at least 500 biological units per ml as an isotonic soln. for direct intradermal injection by syringe or with added glycerine for multi puncture application. Although brucellosis partic. affects ruminants, it also causes human infections. The present antigen can be used to test for delayed hypersensitivity to brucella infections thus allowing desensitoation or for testing the immune status of individuals prior to vaccination. The antigen allows easy reliable testing using and is free from undesired side-effects. The antigen also permits testing hypersensitivity induced by B. melitensio, B. sius, etc.
