POLYPHENYLENE ETHER RESIN COMPOSITIONS

1522458 Polyphenylene ether compositions GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 24 March 1977 [29 March 1976] 12416/77 Headings C3R and C3M A thermoplastic moulding composition comprises (i) a polyphenylene ether resin, (ii) a styrene resin, and (iii) a radial teleblock copolymer which is a branched polymer comprising blocks or segments of a vinyl aromatic polymer, blocks of a conjugated diene polymer and a coupling agent. There may be 10 to 65 parts by weight of (i), 90 to 35 parts by weight of (ii) and 1 to 25 parts by weight of (iii); a reinforcing filler, e.g. glass filaments, may be included. In Examples a poly (2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene) ether resin is blended with a homopolystyrene, a rubber-modified high impact polystyrene and a radial teleblock styrene-butadiene copolymer; other, minor, ingredients are polyethylene processing aid, tridecylphosphite, titanium dioxide, carbon black, triphenyl phosphate, zinc sulphate and zinc oxide.
