Zusammenfassung:	1493550 Mercuric iodide crystals UNITED STATES ENERGY RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT ADMINISTRATION 7 June 1976 [1 July 1975] 23415/76 Heading ClA [Also in Division B1] A method for growing mercuric iodide crystals comprises growing crystals from the vapour phase under conditions of low and constant supercooling of 0À5-10 C., the constant supercooling being achieved by moving the growing crystals through a predetermined temperature gradient at a rate equal to the growth rate of the crystals. The temperature of the source of mercuric iodide vapour is also alternately raised and lowered to a value above and below that of the growing crystals in order to achieve growth and evaporation of the crystals respectively, so promoting the nucleation of a single nucleus.
