CHIRAL HYDROXYCARBOXYLIC ACIDS FROM PROCHIRAL DIOLS

A method for the production of chiral hydroxycarboxylic acids from prochiral diols is disclosed. The method involves the stereospecific oxidation of the diol to the acid in the presence of a biocatalyst that is derived from Corynebacterium oxydans.
