Internet service provider refresh via satellite

A satellite-based feed to refresh proxy servers of Internet service providers (ISPs). Systems and methods are disclosed to implement the satellite-based feed. Internet service providers (12) use (subscribe to) an ISP refresh service implementing the present invention and forward requests to a refresh server (11) containing addresses of web pages (14) that are requested by their clients. The refresh server implements an algorithm that processes the requests to weigh their significance, collects pages meeting a predetermined demand threshold, and broadcasts the collected pages to the subscriber Internet service providers using a satellite (15) communication link. The proxy server (13) is coupled to receiver (16c) that receives the updated web pages. A satellite having a receiver (16b) is used to communicate with the receiver coupled to the proxy server. A transmitter (16a) coupled to the refresh server is used to transmit web pages to the receiver of the satellite. A communications link coupled between the Internet service provider and the refresh server is used to transmit the requests for web page updates.
