Waste collection unit for collecting waste material through a suction line during a medical procedure

There is disclosed a waste collection unit for collecting waste material through a suction line during a medical procedure, said waste collection unit comprising: a portable cart; a waste container supported on said portable cart and configured to collect the waste material during the medical procedure, said waste container comprising a bottom, a wall extending upwardly from said bottom, and a cap coupled to said wall opposite said bottom to collectively define an internal surface of a collection chamber; a vacuum source in communication with said waste container for selectively providing a vacuum in said waste container to draw the waste material into said waste container through the suction line; and a cleaning system comprising a sprinkler coupled to said cap with said sprinkler disposed within said collection chamber, said sprinkler comprising a plurality of jet ports arranged in an asymmetric pattern such that a stream of liquid is simultaneously directed towards said internal surface defined by said cap, said bottom, and said wall.
