Zusammenfassung:	Abstract A method and an apparatus for applying dynamic range compression (DRC) to a Higher Order Ambisonics (HOA) signal in the time domain is disclosed. The method comprises receiving the HOA signal and one or more DRC gains Barc = 9g1 .-g(N+1)2 T , wherein N is an HOA order of the HOA signal; and applying the one or more DRC gains Barc to the HOA signal based on: Cdrc = DiLdiag(grc)DL c wherein c is a vector of one time sample of HOA coefficients (c E R(N+1) 2 1) of the HOA signal, and wherein DL E R(N+1) 2x (N+1) 2 and its inverse DL 1are matrices related to a Discrete Spherical Harmonics Transform (DSHT) optimized for DRC purposes.
