Zusammenfassung:	A combustion apparatus C comprising: a combustion unit 4 for burning fuel gas; a mixed gas supply channel 3 for supplying a mixed gas of fuel gas and air to the combustion unit 4; and a flame sensor 5 located in or facing the mixed gas supply channel 3 and capable of optically detecting a backfired flame from the combustion unit 4 to the mixed gas supply channel 3 in the event of the backfire. The combustion apparatus C further comprises a shielding unit 6 that prevents advancement of the light of the flame during normal combustion and the backfired flame from the combustion unit 4 to the flame sensor 5. This can eliminate false detection of backfires, improve the accuracy of backfire detection, and appropriately suppress defects that may cause thermal damage to components due to backfired flames.
