Zusammenfassung:	A method for controlling operation zones of a mining automation system, comprising: determining (300) a set of passage control units, PCUs, enabling forming of an isolated operation zone of a mining automation system; maintaining (310) an acknowledgement status record for the set of PCUs; determining (320), based on the acknowledgement status record, a PCU within the set of PCUs for completing isolation of the operation zone; selecting (330) an acknowledgement unit located outside the operation zone to be isolated, the acknowledgement unit being associated with the PCU; and controlling (340), in response to receiving an acknowledgement from the selected acknowledgement unit, a state of the operation zone. A corresponding apparatus is also claimed.
