The invention specifically relates to the pharmaceutical compositions for topical application comprising lectin proteins and its use for prevention, treatment and cure of inflammation due to chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. The lectin may comprise an amino acid sequence having sequence of SEQ ID NO: 1 or at least 70% homology to SEQ ID NO: 1.
