Zusammenfassung:	The present invention relates to controlled release pharmaceutical compositions of mexiletine and a release retarding agent, such as an ion exchange resin. More particularly, the invention relates to controlled release suspension of mexiletine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof complexed with ion exchange resin. In particular, the invention provides a controlled release suspension of mexiletine to be administered once a daily for the treatment of myotonic disorders.
