HYDROGEL COMPOSITION AND USES THEREOF IN THE PREVENTION AND/OR TREATMENT OF SKIN DAMAGE CAUSED BY RADIATION

The invention relates to a composition, in a form suitable for topical administration, which is water-based and comprises a vasoconstrictor. The invention is characterized in that the composition comprises a vasoconstrictor chosen from brimonidine or salts thereof, in a solvent-based phase comprising: - polyethylene glycol in combination with propylene glycol and/or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO); - a hydrophilic film-forming agent chosen from a polyvinylpyrrolidone/vinyl acetate copolymer, or polyvinylpyrrolidone in a noncrosslinked, crosslinked or acetate form, taken alone or in combination; - glycerol; and in that is is in the form of a hydrogel. The invention also relates to the composition according to the invention for the use thereof as medication, more particularly in the prevention and/or treatment of dermatitis resulting from radiation, notably in the context of a radiotherapy treatment.
