Zusammenfassung:METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PURGING OFF-FLAVOUR COMPOUNDS FROM FARM-RAISED FISH There is disclosed herein a method of reducing the concentration of geosmin or 2 methylisobornel (MIB) compounds in aquatic organisms raised in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), comprising: before harvesting the aquatic organisms, transferring the aquatic organisms from a grow-out area in the RAS to a depuration zone or tank (12) containing water; ceasing to feed the aquatic organisms after the aquatic organisms have been transferred to the depuration zone or tank (12); circulating the water from the depuration zone or tank (12) to a degassing and oxygenation unit (18) and degassing the water and supplying oxygen to the water, after which the water is returned to the depuration zone or tank (12); circulating the water from the depuration zone or tank (12) to and through an advanced oxidation flowthrough reactor (16) and back to the depuration zone or tank (12) and in the process generating a water current in the depuration zone or tank (12); maintaining a geosmin or MIB gradient between the aquatic organisms and the water in the depuration zone or tank (12) by subjecting the water passing through the reactor (16) to an advanced oxidation process that oxidizes the geosmin or MIB compounds in the water, and in the process reduces the concentration of the geosmin or MIB compounds in the water; and wherein maintaining the geosmin or MIB concentration gradient between the aquatic organisms and the water in the depuration zone or tank (12), results in a mass transfer of geosmin or MIB compounds from the tissue of the aquatic organisms into the water in the depuration zone or tank (12). o3 U) OUW ) r) r )14
