ENHANCED SHAPE SUPPORT GRID

A support grid assembly for use in a vessel including a wall with an inner surface. The support grid assembly comprises at least one panel including a first wall and a second wall. The first wall is defined by a first screen section and a second screen section. The first and second screen sections are configured to support a media and cooperatively define an upward facing screen surface of the first wall. The second wall is configured to be supported by the inner surface of the wall of the vessel. A plurality of flow control vanes is positioned between the first wall and the second wall with at least a portion of each flow control vane being generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of each panel and supporting the first and second screen section. A manifold is coupled to and is in hydraulic communication with the at least one panel and is configured to be in hydraulic communication with an inlet or outlet of the vessel. The upward facing screen surface is defined between the manifold and the wall with the first and second screen sections arranged such that the first wall is non-planar.
