Zusammenfassung:5 Method and installation for treating a C02- and H20-containing flue gas (100) generated by an industrial process unit, preferably a combustion unit (B-100), before CCUS, whereby the flue gas (100) evacuated from the said unit (B-100) is subjected to controlled cooling to a temperature T2 between 100 and 600°C, whereby the cooled flue gas (200) is pretreated in one or more particle removal and/or gas cleaning and/or drying stages and the temperature of the 0 cooled flue gas (100) is further reduced to a temperature T3 < T2, before a first part (400) of pretreated flue gas (230, 240) is subjected to CCUS, a second part (300, 301) of the pretreated flue gas (230, 240) being recycled at temperature T3 as a cooling agent and mixed with the flue gas (100) during the controlled cooling thereof, whereby, alternatively or in combination therewith, partially or fully purified C02 from the CCUS may be recycled at temperature T4
