Zusammenfassung:	A brake assembly (1) for a rail car (3) includes at least one brake element (15) for pressing against a rotor (17) of a rail car wheel (7) in case of a braking action; an actuator (13) for driving the brake element (15), a linkage (5) for transferring a braking force from the actuator (15) to the brake element, at least one sensor device (8) for measuring at least one parameter of the brake assembly (1), and the brake assembly (1) further includes a trigger unit (9) configured to enter its active state when a braking action occurs, wherein trigger unit (9) activates the sensor device (8) in the active state.
