The method (900) includes locating (902) a linear fiber optic sensor (1100) along a composite part (1010, 1020) comprising a matrix of thermoplastic reinforced by fibers, measuring (904) temperatures along the weld line (1022) via the linear fiber optic sensor (1100), performing (906) induction welding at the composite part (1010, 1020) along the weld line (1022), determining (910) a continuum of weld temperatures along the weld line (1022), and controlling (912) the induction welding based on the continuum of weld temperatures.
