A trash can having an injection-molded plastic body formed by side walls and a bottom wall positioned relative to one another so as to together define a cavity having an opening opposite the bottom wall, the side walls comprising a front side wall, a back side wall and lateral side walls, each side wall integrally merging into the adjacent side walls at common corners, an overhang edge running around the opening and having a collar projecting radially outward from the side walls on an upper side of the trash can and also being supported on the side walls by ribs spaced along the overhang edge, the injection-molded plastic body being partially reinforced with at least one laminar surface reinforcement such that the wall thicknesses of the trash can are reduced as a whole while maintaining the same capacity, the laminar surface reinforcement extending over the entire length or at least over more than half of the front side wall, the laminar surface reinforcement having a thickness more than 10% thicker than unreinforced regions of the side walls, and wherein the laminar surface reinforcement forms a three dimensional surface structure inside the injection-molded plastic body of the trash can. - 20 - W-zL
