Zusammenfassung:	A subsea pipeline 10 comprises a steel pipe 12 surrounded by a thermally-insulating coating system having at least one thermal insulation layer 18. The thermal insulation layer 18 comprises a thermally-insulating matrix 26 in which elongate tensile elements of a thermoplastic polymer, such as monofilament yarns 24, are embedded. The pipe is preheated to promote bonding between the matrix and the elongate elements and between successive layers of the coating system.
