Zusammenfassung: | Abstract The invention relates to a new endophyte strain that produces epoxy-janthitrems with improved stability and compatibility with respect to higher endophyte infection frequency over known commercial epoxy-janthitrem producing strains. The endophyte strain is grown in association with a variety of grasses. These include but are not limited to perennial, Italian, annual and hybrid ryegrasses and festulolium hybrids. The endophyte strain has a broader intra specific interspecific and inter generic compatibility and stability over known strains. The invention also provides a method of increasing the resistance of a host grass to biotic and/or abiotic stress/es by inoculating the grass with an endophyte strain according to the invention and a host grass which, confers improved resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Such stresses may include insect and pest damages and heat and water stress. |
