Composition for prevention and treatment of muscular diseases or for improvement of muscle function containing 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid or chrysanthemum extract

The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating muscular diseases, which contains an extract of chrysanthemum and 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid as active ingredients. Specifically, since the present invention reduces mRNA expression of atrogin-1 and MuRF-1, which are major biomarkers involved in muscle protein degradation in muscle cells, and reduces muscle loss by increasing mRNA expression of mTOR protein, which is a major biomarker involved in muscle protein formation, and myogenin and MyoD, which are biomarkers associated with muscle differentiation, the present invention can be used for preventing and treating muscular diseases or improving muscle function. In addition, the chrysanthemum extract or the 3,5-dicaffeoylquinic acid has an effect of excellently improving exercise performance by increasing the activity of SIRT1 and PCG-1α which are major biomarkers involved in exercise performance. Moreover, since the present invention is a natural product, the present invention can be safely used without side effects and can be used as medicine, food, or cosmetics.
