Pool cleaner generator module with magnetic coupling

POOL CLEANER GENERATOR MODULE WITH MAGNETIC COUPLING A generator module (66) for a swimming pool cleaner (12) comprises an outer housing (26) including a flow directing portion (58) positioned in a fluid flow path of the swimming pool cleaner (12). A paddle wheel (32) is positioned around a drive shaft (70) and includes a magnet section (76) having at least one drive magnet and rotates in response to fluid flow through the fluid path. A generator (30) is positioned inside the outer housing (26) and in communication with a driven shaft (72) so that rotation of the driven shaft (72) causes the generator (30) to produce electric power. A magnetic follower (74) coupled to the driven shaft (72) and includes at least one follower magnet (84). The magnetic follower (74) is substantially encircled by the magnetic section (76) of the paddle wheel (32). The at least one follower magnet (84) is magnetically coupled to the at least one drive magnet of the paddle wheel (32) so that rotation of the paddle wheel (32) causes rotation of the magnetic follower (74) and the driven shaft (72).
