Desalination apparatus and system

Provided is a desalination apparatus 10 comprising a body 12 having at least one saline input 14 and output 16, the body 12 configured to allow saline 15 to pond therein. Apparatus 10 also includes a low opacity cover 18 for operative sealing fitment over the saline pond 15, the cover 18 defining a corrugated profile with a plurality of peaks 20 and troughs 22 along a length of the pond. Apparatus 10 further includes a plurality of condensate collection conduits 24 arranged below along a length of each trough 22, wherein, in use, condensate forming inside the cover 18 moves under the influence of gravity towards the conduits 24, and a rainwater collection assembly configured to collect rainwater falling on the cover from the troughs 22.
