Zusammenfassung:The present disclosure relates to a log splitter for splitting wood in log form or otherwise. In one aspect, the log splitter comprises a guide for a log, a means for making a blind transverse cut in the log, a blade for splitting strips off of the log, and a means for driving the log in a lengthwise direction into the blade to the position of the transverse cut. Also disclosed is a method for operating the log splitter to perform a log splitting process, where this method comprises a series of passes of the length of the log, where each pass is comprised of a series of splitting cycles, and where each splitting cycle comprises the steps of making a transverse cut in the log, and then driving the log against the splitting blade at the depth of the cut, and to the position of the cut.
