Abstract The invention discloses a driving assistance device comprising a video camera, an image acquisition unit, a computer and a voice unit. The video camera shoots images in front of a motor vehicle, the image acquisition unit periodically acquires static pictures of the images shot by the 5 video camera, and the computer receives the static pictures from the image acquisition unit. The computer analyzes the static pictures by using image recognition technology, captures license plate information and taillight information of a preceding vehicle, judges whether the preceding vehicle is in a braking state, left turning state or right turning state, and gives a voice prompt to a driver to prevent a rear-end collision if the driver ignores the taillight information of the preceding 0 vehicle, improving the traffic safety.
