Facemask with nonmetallic nose member and method of manufacturing same

A protective disposable facemask (100) includes a body (30) having a top edge and a bottom edge, the top and bottom edges cooperating with each other to define a periphery that contacts a wearer's face. A first reactant material (50) is deposited along the top edge, the first reactant material having a malleable unreacted state such that the top edge is conformable across the wearer's nose and face in the unreacted state. The first reactant material is reactable with a second reactant (52) material to form a stiffened nose member that retains the conformed shape across the wearer's nose and face. A method of manufacturing the facemasks is also encompassed.
