DOWNDRAFT SYSTEM Some embodiments of the invention provide a downdraft assembly (10) capable of ventilating a cooktop (15) including housing with a frame, a fluid box (150), and a movement assembly (400) with a belt-lift (405). In some embodiments, the movement assembly (400) can include a vertically moveable chimney (100). Some embodiments include a chimney (100) with an upper and lower horizontal member (21, 22) and dual fluid inlets (29a, 29b). In some embodiments, a first control panel (58) can be coupled to the housing to activate at least one function of the downdraft assembly (10) while remaining substantially stationary as the chimney (100) moves. Some embodiments include a second control panel (55) coupled to the chimney (100). Some embodiments include a visor (25) and at least one illumination source (35) configured and arranged to at least partially illuminate the cooktop (15). In some embodiments, the visor (25) can articulate to control illumination or the flow of a cooking effluent into at least one of the dual inlets (29a, 29b). o oI
