Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a rail vehicle braking device with at least one electrodynamic brake (24), which comprises a drive unit (16), which has at least one drive motor (18) and a power supply unit (20) for supplying the drive motor (18) when the drive unit (16) is in a traction mode. According to the invention, the rail vehicle braking device has at least two brake control units (28, 30) in order to increase the safety of the electrodynamic brake, wherein in a first braking mode, a first brake control unit (28) in an active state controls the power supply unit (20) for providing a braking effect, a first brake effect monitoring unit (50) and a switching unit (32), which serves to switch, depending on a brake effect parameter in the first braking mode, into a second braking mode, in which the second brake control unit (30) in an active state controls the power supply unit (20) for providing a brake effect.
